The tricky part about NIR drying
NIR lamps aren’t just “heaters.” If you’re drying battery electrodes or curing electrolytes, you can’t just throw heat at the problem. You need the heat to soak deep into the material without scorching the surface. We figure out the exact voltage and wattage you need to match your current transformers. Why? Because if you cram too many watts into a tiny space, you’re going to cook your lamp housing. Plus, your cooling system has to be beefy enough to handle all that radiant heat bouncing back off the battery cells.
Getting the fit just right
We use high-purity quartz glass because it handles thermal shock without cracking and lets the NIR radiation through clearly. Depending on what you’re actually making, we can even add coatings to tweak the emission spectrum. But here is where things usually go wrong: the connections. There’s nothing worse than a “replacement” part that doesn’t actually fit. We provide drop-in replacements with the exact lead lengths and connectors you already use—whether that’s R7s, SK15, or custom welded tabs. You just wire it in. No hacking away at the machine chassis. And we’re obsessive about the length. If a tube is off by even 2mm, it won’t seat right in the reflector, and the whole thing is useless. We don’t do “close enough.”
The balancing act
Here’s the trade-off: high-intensity lamps give you incredible heat density, which is great for speed. But that puts a lot of stress on the filaments. Sure, we can crank up the wattage to make your curing faster, but that usually means the lamp won’t last as long. We’ll sit down with you and find that sweet spot—where your throughput is fast, but your maintenance schedule doesn’t become a nightmare.
