
Why Most Bathroom Heaters Die (and How We Fixed Ours)
Let’s be honest: bathrooms are absolute torture for electronics. You’ve got thick steam, random splashes, and constant humidity. It’s basically a recipe for rust and electrical shorts. When we sat down to build our infrared mirror heaters, we didn’t want to make something that worked for three months and then quit. We focused on the two things that usually kill these units: condensation and leaks.
No more wiping the mirror
We’ve all been there. You step out of a hot shower and the mirror is a complete blur. You end up wiping it with a towel, leaving streaks everywhere. To fix that, we built infrared emitters right into the glass. They warm the mirror just enough to keep it above the “dew point.” In plain English? The water can’t stick. It just doesn’t. We also spent a lot of time tweaking the wattage. If you put too much heat in one spot, the glass can actually crack. We made sure the warmth spreads evenly, so you get a clear view without any scary hot spots.
Keeping the water out
Water getting inside the housing is the number one reason heaters burn out. It’s a fast track to a dead unit. We use heavy-duty seals and water-resistant gaskets to keep the moisture far away from the electrical terminals. It’s like giving the electronics a raincoat. One quick tip: make sure your wiring is grounded properly. Our seals do their job, but if the house wiring is wonky in a damp room, you’re still going to trip a breaker.
Built to actually last
Most standard heaters fail because moisture creeps into the quartz envelope or eats away at the metal contacts. We swapped those out for moisture-resistant coatings and sealed terminals. It means the unit can take a beating from steam and spray and still put out the same amount of heat as day one. Just a heads-up: these are splash-proof, not waterproof. You can’t dunk them in a tub. And if you’re installing one right next to a high-pressure shower head, just mount it a bit higher. You don’t want a direct jet stream hitting the seals all day. Get the placement right, and this thing will keep you warm for years.
