When you’re working in a Class 100 cleanroom, the last thing you need is your heating element deciding to flake off or outgas right onto your product. It happens more than people admit. Why quartz?
Here’s the thing: quartz handles the heat-up and cool-down cycle without breaking a sweat or spitting out microscopic dust. And since these are often used in rinse environments, moisture is always a threat. We seal the ends tight. Why? Because if a single drop of water hits a hot filament, the lamp is toast. Instant burnout. No one wants to be the person who has to shut down the line because of a leak.
The technical side of things
We’ve dialed in a specific wattage-to-length ratio to keep the heat exactly where it needs to be. By tuning the infrared wavelength, we can hit the substrate directly. This means you aren’t accidentally heating up all the air in the room—which is a nightmare for climate control. One quick tip: keep your power supply steady. Voltage spikes are the enemy here; they’ll wear out the quartz envelope way faster than they should.
Making it work in your setup
These are designed to be simple drop-in replacements for your rinse-stage heating tunnels. Because they’re waterproof, you can wash down the area without worrying about an electrical disaster. But a word of caution: high-purity quartz is a bit more brittle than the glass you’re used to. If your machinery vibrates a lot or takes a few bumps,use dampened mounts. If the tubes aren’t supported properly, they can crack as they expand from the heat. If you want the best results, wire them into a PID controller. It stops that annoying “overshoot” where the temp spikes too high. It saves the quartz from unnecessary stress and keeps your lamps running longer, even on those heavy-duty production lines.
