Why Electrical Stability Actually Matters in Ozone-Free IR Lamps
Ozone-free infrared lamps are great for indoor curing because they cut out that 185nm wavelength that creates ozone. But while the light output is what you’re paying for, the electrical stability is what keeps your day from being ruined. Nobody wants to be the person who trips a breaker in the middle of a production run.
We test every single tube. No exceptions.
We don’t do “sample checks.” That’s a recipe for disaster. Instead, every single tube we make goes through high-voltage withstand and insulation resistance testing before it even thinks about leaving our floor. Here is how it works: we hit the lamp with a voltage way higher than what it’ll see in your machine. Why? Because we want to find the weak spots now. If there’s a tiny, microscopic crack in the quartz or a seal that isn’t quite right, the lamp will arc. In a big heating array, one bad lamp arcing can blow your entire circuit or fry your power supply. We’d rather find that failure here in our shop than have you find it on your factory floor.
The heat is the real enemy
High-wattage lamps get incredibly hot. That tungsten filament expands and shrinks constantly, which puts a lot of stress on the lead-in wires. It’s a brutal environment. To handle this, we use specific insulation that stops leakage currents from jumping to the housing. But a quick tip: make sure your mounting brackets are grounded properly. Even with our testing, a chassis that isn’t grounded can turn a tiny leak into a genuine safety risk for your team.
Making it work with your gear
If you’re building high-end automation, you know that electrical noise is a nightmare. It messes with everything. Our testing ensures these lamps act as pure resistive loads. No weird parasitic capacitance, no ghosts in the machine. This means your PID controllers get a clean signal and your safety relays won’t trigger for no reason. You just drop them in, and they work without messing with your machine’s electrical footprint. Simple as that.
